Around Town: Cropped Top & High Waisted Shorts with Lace Trim

Sometimes, the best way to go about a casual summer day around town is in a comfortable outfit. My usual go-to summer outfit for such a day is a pair of denim shorts and a solid v-neck, but for this particular day, I wanted to try something new and went for a cropped graphic tee instead. I actually purchased both the cropped tee and high waisted shorts from Target, one several months after the other. I love popping into the clothing section at Target because I find that there are always quite a few cute items at a bargain.

Neither cropped tops nor high waisted shorts were staples in my closet until this summer, when I tried them for the first time. I never thought I could pull off high waisted shorts that well, so I didn’t even go near them. When I went to Target for a last minute pit stop the day before my cruise vacation back in March, I spotted these shorts with cute lace trims and had to try them on. To my surprise, I really liked the fit and look and ended up going home with them.

I wanted to share this experience with you because I really want to encourage you to try new things, even if you’re unfamiliar with them or think you won’t be able to pull off the look well. Looking at a cute pair of shoes or dress when they’re on display will probably be much different from looking at them on you after you have tried them on. It’s certainly a great feeling when you’ve discovered that the item you used to avoid actually looks great on you.
